Dr. Md. Tarikul Islam was born in 1975. He passed HSC in 1992 from Govt. BL College, Khulna. He passed MBBS in 1999 from Rajshahi Medical College. Later on he completed FCPS (Surgery) from Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS). He obtained Fellowship of American College of Surgeons (FACS) and Fellowship of Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (FRCS). As a general surgeon he worked in the position of Resident Surgeon (RS), Consultant of Surgery at different hospital of Bangladesh. He completed MS (Plastic Surgery) from Dhaka Medical College under Dhaka University in 2011.
Since then he is working in plastic surgery. His area of special interest is Cleft surgery, Hand surgery, Burn surgery, Breast surgery, Trauma surgery and Cancer surgery. He is involved in charitable work. As a credentialed cleft surgeon of Smiletrain (A world largest charity working for cleft patients), he has been working as a project director and chief surgeon of SmiletrainNargis memorial Hospital cleft project since 2013 and operated many cleft patients to put smile on their faces. He has more than 25 publications in national and international journals. He is serving the journal of Khulna Medical College and Bangladesh Medical Association Journal, Khulna as chief editor and member of editorial board respectively. He is involved in many national and international organisations and holds different position.
